Your dog has a heart murmur. What to do next?

Don´t worry, it doesn´t have to be fatal at the moment. Nevertheless, it is very likely that your dog has cardiac disease, even though you haven´t noticed any substantial changes in your dog´s behaviour yet.

What to do now? It is really important to examine your dog properly with echocardiography (heart scan) and x-ray. These steps are crucial to help us to figure out, what type of hearth disease are we facing, and especially in which stage of cardiac disease your dog is. As soon as the vet knows the respective type and stage of disease, he can predict more preciously next development and further to provide your dog with concrete treatment and special medication targeting its problems.

It is necessary to say, that some of the heart diseases which might occur during your dog´s life are not completely curable. However, with suitable treatment we may not only prolong your dog´s life, but primarily improve its quality. Thus, in case your veterinary doctor finds a heart murmur do not hesitate to require another heart examination of your pet.
